The one issue we find most common within our East Texas community is dirty air filters. Therefore, our number one troubleshooting tip is, you guessed it! Replacing your dirty air filters. When your filters are dirty, they become ‘clogged’ causing dust, dirt, dander, and other contaminants to block the system from pushing out clean air. Not only this, but your AC system begins to work harder trying desperately to deliver clean air into your home. Along with this, the extra strain being put on your AC unit causes a surge in energy and an increase in the wear and tear of your HVAC system. Reducing the longevity of your system over time.
Simple fix? Replace your air filters every 90 days. Sooner if you have pets within the home, elderly and immunocompromised family, and those who suffer from asthma, or other respiratory issues.
Since your outdoor unit is exposed to the elements of nature, this can pose a risk to your HVAC unit over time if not properly maintained. Grass, sticks, limbs, dirt, and other solid particles accumulate in your HVAC unit causing obstruction of airflow to your indoor living areas, directly affecting the air quality and cooling capabilities of your unit. As a homeowner in East Texas, it’s easy to keep your unit running effectively and efficiently.
Simply, open your air conditioner condenser unit, and clear away any debris that is keeping the HVAC unit from functioning at the optimal level. Removing any vegetation that is near the outdoor unit.
When clean air is circulating through your home, it exits through your air vents. When you have not cleaned your indoor air filters, substances such as dirt, dust, and other foreign particles will stick to your vents, ducts, and registers. This directly affects and diminishes the quality of your indoor air.
Pro tip: It’s wise to seek professional HVAC technician’s services if you are unable to safely clean the vent systems in your East Texas home.
Many homeowners don’t think to check their thermostat for the fault when their system starts to give them issues. Firstly, you will want to check to make sure that your thermostat is getting adequate power. Reset your thermostat and temperatures, if you notice that there is no change, you may need to consult with one of our licensed HVAC technicians.
If your AC unit doesn’t start at all, go to the source of your electrical supply cords, and make sure that they are in the proper place. Additionally, you should check to see if your circuit breaker is on. Oftentimes, when there is an overload of power the circuit will shut off the power supply to the breaker. If you are not able to diagnose the problem by resetting the breaker, a technician will be able to assess the problem and provide a solution.
